iBrainstorm – A Creative Collaboration Tool

iBrainStorm

I am excited to finally show off a little UX iPad/iPhone appliation that the UX team here at Universal Mind has put together, its called iBrainstorm.

It all stems from us using what the UX community calls Sketchboards, which are large craft paper idea collection tools for kick off meetings and brainstorming sessions. We loved the organic feel of the tool but we wanted to take it further and bring it to a more digital world. We still wanted to keep the feeling and collaboration open which was a challenging task.

Think, share, & repeat

  • Use sticky notes to capture creative concepts.
  • Draw on the paper backboard to annotate and diagram.
  • Organize and create hierarchy with color.
  • Save your work as an image to your image library or share with friends and colleagues via email.

  • iBrainstorm was conceived as a collaboration tool for user experience (UX) professionals. We use it everyday in our UX process at Universal Mind! We decided to share it with the community and see if they found as much value in it as we do. We’d love to hear constructive critiques of the application and build upon it, as a valuable community tool.

Get the iBrainstorm iPad app and iPhone app (coming very soon!) in the app store! Make sure to follow iBrainstormapp on twitter for new releases and info.

Just a curiosity, this app is developed only using Objective-C?
      Thanks!

      Jose,

Yes both the iPad and iPhone apps are native Obj-C code.

      Thanks

I’d really like to provide a lot of feedback of what seems more than promising, interesting, exciting!

I just have a very minor issue before being able to do so, can you please send me 4 or 5 iPads for my teammates? ;-)

as an apple customer you are politely asked to insert your ipad and any associated appls firmly up your rectum. this is an authorized directive.

I will be trialling this in the classroom. Just wondering how many can collaborate at one time? Will let you know how it goes.

Is there an “undo” function when drawing? I could not figure that out. Without that, it is unusable, in my opinion.

Also: without more than one “board” management, it is unusable too, in my opinion.

    8. Nick / Jul 24 2010

Also: “There is no undo”, not: “There is no undue”.

Also: “Send by email” or “Send email”, not: “Send in email”.

      Just my 2 cents.

@Jenny love to hear any feedback, right now you can connect up to 4 iPhones/iPod touches, the iPhone app should be live in the app store very soon.

@Nick Great feedback! We are currently working on refining the icons along with many updates, including the “undue” and will make the “Send by email” change. The Undo feature is on our list to add. Keep the comments coming we need this feedback to make it better.

Some of the icons at the top of the screen are self-explanatory (the pencil and the Post-it, duh), but what are the other two. I tap them, they turn color, but then seem to ave no relation to the “corkboard” display.

What are they? A simple user guide would be appreciated.

Otherwise, the app is fun and useful, thanks.

Needs ability to start additional boards and for current board to scroll right/left and up/down infinitely. Would greatly benefit from ability to link notes. When can we expect the iphone app?

Ability to save to web and use from a web interface would be great too.

      Dear Sir / madam,

I saw your app through the iPad show on podcasts and have downloaded the free versions to try on my iPod touch and iPad. However, when will we be able to make notes on the iPod without it connecting to the iPad? This would be a beneficial option as ideas come to people while out on the field or while going over project ides. Then while having our next meeting, we could connect to the iPad and share all our ideas.

      Just a thought.

      Keep up the great work.
      Aaron
